After its first online sale, ethical sports clothing brand CONTRA is celebrating after receiving over 7000 orders.

The official CONTRA online store was launched on 17 September 2018, with the first sale generated on the same day. Since then, the website has seen 7,172 orders from over 6,000 customers and revenue totaling over £313,000.

The CONTRA range includes base layers, t-shirts, tights, capri pants, and hoodies in various colors and designs, with ten sizes for men and women.

CONTRA is a project that began in 2017, intending to create sports clothing in sizes that fit all, in colors that don’t promote gender stereotyping, and manufactured in factories that pay staff fair wages. All the profits go towards supporting Parkrun’s mission to create a healthier and happier planet. Parkrun provides free; five km timed events take place every Saturday morning and 2k events for children on a Sunday morning at nearly 2,000 locations in 21 different countries.

Founded on Passion

Sports Clothing Brand - Start Finish Line

It’s seldom that a clothing company is founded based on a personal passion. Paul Sinton-Hewitt CBE, Founder of CONTRA and Parkrun, said:

Something like CONTRA has never been done before, and everything would suggest that it can’t be done – that you can’t create a clothing brand with the values we are passionate about, but we are here to prove otherwise.

As the figures show, CONTRA has been a massive success in its first year of online trading, and it just goes to show that the things we are passionate about – such as making our clothing from high-quality material, ensuring ethical practices throughout the process and delivering sportswear that supports the everyday person – are also values that people care about.”

Parkrun Events

Parkrun events are held every Saturday, free of charge, and are open to everyone. There are currently more than 6 million registered Parkrunners worldwide. By purchasing clothing from CONTRA, customers are helping to support the Parkrun movement and ensuring it remains free for everyone forever.
